This service is for all schools and academies.
What the service provides
If a legal problem arises from the running of your school we will assist you with it.
Typically, the type of matters we advise on are:
- Child protection and parental rights
- Dealing with difficult parents (banning letters)
- Pupil discipline
- Property issues
- Contract advice/disputes.
This list is not exhaustive. It is hard to predict what may crop up but, whatever the nature of your query, we will do what we can to help you.
Please note that advice on certain specific areas of law is excluded from this package. Employment law (for example) is only available by buying the employment law sold service.
Expenses such as court and barristers' fees are also excluded.
In the unlikely event that you require more than 15 hours’ advice during the year, we can offer you a competitive hourly rate to provide further advice to you.

Our specialist lawyers are experienced in advising professionals who work with children who are subject to child protection plans; where there are pending care proceedings and in respect of children who enter local authority care. We can offer advice to schools where staff are required to give evidence in care proceedings and, subject to further discussions, would be willing to provide specific training on preparing for and attending at court.
Cost
Pay as you go at our competitive hourly rates:
- Director: £165
- Head of Service: £140
- Principal Lawyer: £130
- Lawyer: £115
- Legal Officer: £105
Fixed fees for specific matters (eg tribunals): call to discuss.
