The Education Library Service (ELS) is a school’s library service based in Nottingham City which is available to Derby City schools. We aim to support schools with their Curriculum, Reading for Pleasure and School Library needs. With a stock of over 300,000 books, we offer a book loan service to schools, as well as our expertise on school libraries and children’s books. Customers can visit to choose their own books, or our librarians can make up collections to be delivered to your school.

Schools need to buy in, to use our service. The prices are available on the website at
Price List | Inspire - Culture, Learning, Libraries (inspireculture.org.uk)

For example,

if a primary school bought into an allowance of 100 books on Unlimited Exchanges September 2023 – August 2024 it would cost £100 x £6.51 = £651.00 + VAT. This would entitle the school to borrow 100 books at any one time (fiction or non-fiction) and these could be swapped as often as you with for no extra cost. If school swapped every half term, you would see 600 books for £651.00 – just over £1 per book.

Schools obtain books by;
