Priority Literacy Project Conference, 18th September 2024

This event, on Wednesday 18 September, has been designed for Derby schools to ensure they get the maximum value from the last 9 months of the Priority Literacy project.

The event is suitable for CEOs, Headteachers, English / Literacy Leads and Transition Leads. The day will provide:

  • Inputs from and access to a range of literacy experts.
  • Keynote speakers addressing Derby priorities.
    • Professor Alice Deignan and Marcus Jones - Let’s talk about oracy and vocabulary. What do we know about the complexity of the academic transition into KS3? Subject Knowledge focus.
    • Alice Stott, Voice 21 - Oracy – walking through a worked example
    • Sarah Green – Effective Reading comprehension
    • Derby Academic Transition Project - Derby Research School and Derby Schools. The last 100 days of Y6 vs first 100 days of Y7. Are they key words?
  • Work with Project Leads - Carl and Amy
    • Focussed on Derby audit results and learning.
  • Access to programme providers so you can book services directly – Fluency, NLT

The event will be both a CPL and planning opportunity for those working on literacy and English.
