Derby City Council and Community Action Derby are delighted to announce that applications are now open for grants for the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) for the summer and winter holidays. The HAF funding, from the Department for Education, enables schools and other local community based or private organisations to deliver holiday activities and food to children from reception to Year 11 who are eligible for free school meals in Derby.

The recent Easter programme was a great success with 31 providers engaging hundreds of children across the city to develop new skills, try out new sports, take part in dance and drama, as well as enjoying some fantastic healthy food and building new friendships.

We are particularly keen to hear from schools who can deliver a holiday programme from their site, as we know this is an effective way to engage the local children and young people. Applications can be found at: Summer and Winter HAF now accepting Expressions of Interest! (communityactionderby.org.uk) The deadline for applications is Friday 19 May at 5pm.

A Holiday Activities and Food referral form is available for children who may not meet the free school meals eligibility requirement but may be vulnerable due to their circumstances. Applications can be made for children who meet the vulnerable criteria to attend HAF sessions. Please note that places through the referral scheme are subject to approval and availability.

If you would have any questions or would like to find out more about how your school can get involved in the HAF programme, please contact DerbyHAF@derby.gov.uk
