Active Derbyshire and Active Notts would really like to understand the approaches adopted by schools to support LGBTQ+ students, including and beyond P.E.
We see this as an opportunity to connect educational settings that have worked with their LGBTQ+ young people and seen positive impacts especially around physical activity and who are keen to explore new ways to support, empower and celebrate their LGBTQ+ students. Also, we are keen to share the learning with schools who are in the infancy of this work.
Our first step is to understand the current landscape and we would really appreciate if you could share this with your schools to capture their thoughts on the following questions.
It would be amazing if the PE lead could complete this alongside the lead for safeguarding and inclusion within the school. We appreciate that educational settings are at different stages of their inclusion journey, and we do not want anyone to feel judged by that. We understand you are balancing this with other priorities which also demand time and resources. With this in mind, we hope to support you, your schools and your LGBTQ+ young people with this work.
