Reading is key to learning across all subjects in primary and secondary school. It is a strong predictor of outcomes in later life. In KS2 and secondary, disciplinary reading is an approach to improving literacy across the curriculum that emphasises the importance of subject specific support.
Join us on this one-day course where we will explore the evidence base around reading and develop our individual whole school reading strategies based on the EEF’s reading recommendations in the Improving Literacy series and discussions with other senior leaders and Literacy leads.
This one-day course will focus on aspects such as:
- Ensuring a robust diagnostic assessment of need
- Embedding core classroom teaching strategies that improve the literacy capabilities of the whole class
- Assessing any additional support in the form of high quality, structured, targeted interventions
- Wider strategies to support progress
- Professional development mechanisms to support behaviour change
- QA, and evaluation strategies
