Derby Targeted Support Offer
We are delighted to share further details on the opportunities available for our partner schools within the targeted group across Derby through the Priority Literacy programme.
The Priority Literacy Targeted Support Offer, is open to invited schools as identified by the DfE. Where schools feel they would benefit from the targeted offer, we invite you to get in touch with the team with your rationale so we can ensure that if places are available, the DfE can allocate support. An overview of the opportunities available can be viewed here.
Here are some of the key highlights and updates for schools:
Literacy Specialists and School Audit Visit
Thank you to schools who have submitted their audit - literacy specialists are being matched with schools over waves of deployments and are now in schools with follow up support. Literacy specialists will be reaching out to the email addresses provided in your audit return to arrange a school visit. Slots are going very quickly so please ensure you respond as quickly as possible to find the best visit slot for your context. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Becky.

KS2 and Secondary Literacy Training for Literacy Leaders and Teachers
The National Literacy Trust and Derby Research School are offering structured programmes of work to support schools with structured modules covering the core domains of literacy: talk for learning; reading fluency; reading to learn; vocabulary; writing stamina; and reading for pleasure. Anchored in the research are the core principles for effective practice, immerse in practice strategies and next steps for leadership and teacher practice.

Matched to complement the training above, explore the implications for support staff. Reflecting on best practice in supporting learners within the classroom and as part of targeted intervention, explore practical strategies to support all learners to develop literacy skills.

Online Resource Bank
An Online Resource Bank has been developed to support the programme and share resources and best practice across all strands. This will include all Primary Writing Moderation exemplifications. The Online Resource Bank can be accessed here.
