Free School Meals - Auto Award Project - The Results

Derby City Council have now completed the Free School Meals Auto Award Project.  This was done to help increase free school meals take-up for children and maximise Pupil Premium for schools.

The Results:

We identified 512 children who are entitled to free school meals but were not showing on the school census as being on FSM at Derby City schools.

Derby City Council FSM Sold Service Schools:

• We have awarded an extra 142 children free school meals.
• We have written to the parents advising them of this.
• All children awarded FSM will show on each schools FSM Online Portal log in.
• Please log into the FSM Online Portal to check for any new awards.

Non DCC FSM Sold Service Schools:

• We identified 370 children who are entitled to free school meals but were not showing on the school census as being on FSM at schools.
• Over the next two weeks we will send each school who process their own FSM a list of these children to check against their own records.
• We aim to send all lists to schools by Friday 4th May 2024.
• Schools can then award FSM for any children that they do not have listed as FSM on their systems.
