Derby Arena Tour and Talk with National Governing Bodies of Sport Talk
What the service provides
Here’s your chance to take a tour around Derby Arena including a National Governing Body of Sport talk!
The tours of the Arena will give great insight into its construction and as the building comes to life you will uncover what goes on behind the scenes, including how we work with our partners.
The tour also includes behind the scenes exploration of the track bike locker facility, where you can get up close to these light-weight speed machines, which have no brakes or gears.

We have ample free on-site parking, changing facilities, an on-site cafe as well as free Wi-Fi.
Cost
£8 per person to include a 45 minute tour with Tea / Coffee and Squash to finish. A minimum number of 6 persons required per booking, maximum of 20 per group.

School Multi-Sports Sessions
What the service provides
Derby City Council Leisure Service offers a fully equipped sports hall for a range of sports including but not limited to:
- Badminton
- Netball
- Volleyball
- Table tennis
- Handball
- Indoor bowls
- Futsal
- Pickleball
- Walking netball
- Walking football
The sessions offered can be split into a block booking of your choice and our team here at the Arena will work with your school individually to create a bespoke package to suit your requirements.
Please be aware the sessions above are not coached led.
Benefits for your school
With movement, skills and techniques forming key components of Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4, Derby City Council are pleased to support Physical Education throughout the leisure service by offering the above sports sessions as part of a bespoke service to schools.
All the sports above are easy to learn, fun, sociable, and a great way for children of all abilities to keep active and interact.
All sports are excellent games for different elements of physical development. Intensive movement will help to keep participants in great shape and sports such as Table Tennis and Badminton are fantastic for honing agility and co-ordination skills.

GCSE Track Cycling offer and Track Taster packages
What the service provides
Derby City Council Leisure Service offers the track cycling element of both AQA and OCR GCSE sports modules. The assessment is delivered over a 4 hour period graded on the 1-10 scale.
The course offered is split over two sessions and can take up to 32 students in total completing the required skills which will be assessed. Riders will learn how to ride, control and master both a fixed wheel bike and a Olympic 42° banked track.
The requirements are that the individuals can ride a bike competently and have a good level of fitness allowing continuous exercise for 20+ mins at a moderate intensity.
Benefits for your school
The package or taster will offer the opportunity to complete an inspiring and exhilarating session delivered in accordance with the awarding body. Taster sessions are 'have a go' sessions for new riders. If you are a beginner who wants to give track cycling a go, then this is the session for you.

Studio Hire/Instructor led Exercise Classes
What the Service Provides
- Studio space for hire - maximum capacity 70
- Instructor led exercise classes
Air-conditioned studio with sprung-wooden floor and single mirrored wall. An ideal space for GCSE dance assessment or group exercise activities.
We can arrange for a qualified instructor to lead exercise classes ranging from low-impact Wellness-based classes such as Yoga and Pilates through to high energy exercise such as Aerobics and Boxercise.

Benefits for your school
Ideal, private space for dance practice or exam assessment with a sprung-wooden floor to help reduce impact and lowering the risk of injury.
Increase your students' awareness of mindfulness and mental wellbeing through instructor led classes in Yoga, Pilates and BodyBalanceTM.
Target improvements in cardiovascular health and maintaining healthy body composition with instructor led classes in Aerobics, Boxercise, BodyPumpTM and BodyCombatTM.
Cost
£60 per hour for studio hire only. £75 per hour for instructor led exercise classes. Discounts available on block bookings.
