Building on the success of our 2019 ‘Compassion in Schools for Educators day’, on 25th November 2022, we will be hosting a ‘Compassion and Wellbeing in Education day’ in which we will bring together a community of world-leading experts, researchers and experienced practitioners. Hosted by the University of Derby ,and in Partnership with the Derby Opportunity Area and the Compassionate Mind Foundation, the event is for anyone working within or linked to education wishing to gain knowledge of compassionate and wellbeing practice and skills, and how to embed them in their curriculums. In 2019, over 70% of attendees suggested that they would apply the practices learned from the day to help staff and pupils in their school. The day is equivalent to seven continuing professional development (CPD) hours.

Workshops

The event will have hands-on workshops, with themes focused on:

Compassion in the classroom

  • Compassionate Mind Training approaches for primary and secondary aged pupils
  • Compassionate Mind Training approaches for pupils with specials needs

Moreover, Professor Jonathan Glazzard, formerly Principal Researcher in the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools, will be leading the Resilience and Wellbeing of teachers and school leaders workshop.
