Winter Illness Crib Sheets

As we enter the autumn/winter period, more illnesses are likely to circulate in your settings. Public Health have developed the attached crib sheets, which are aimed at helping parents and carers understand when their child should be attending your setting when they are unwell. We hope this will support you in reducing the spread of common winter bugs, and ensuring that children are attending your setting appropriately. Please share the attached documents with your parents and carers.

Polio Vaccination

Polio is currently circulating in sewage in London, the US and Israel. This happens when not enough people are protected by vaccination. Please encourage parents and carers at your early years setting to check that their child is up to date with their immunisation schedule.

Parents and carers should check that their child had:

  • All 3 doses of the 6-in-1 vaccine
  • The 4-in-1 (DTaP/IPV) pre-school booster

Children will also be offered a booster when they are 14-years-old as part of the 3-in-1 (Td/IPV) teenage booster.

It is important that children have all of these vaccinations in order to be fully protected from polio.

It is never too late to receive these vaccines – parents/carers should contact the GP if they think their child has missed one of these vaccines.

As always you contact cct@derby.gov.uk with any queries about the attached resources or infectious disease in your settings.
