Derby City Council and Community Action Derby are delighted to announce that applications are now open for grants for the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) for winter delivery. The HAF funding, from the Department for Education, enables schools and other local community based or private organisations to deliver holiday activities and food to children aged 5-16 who are eligible for free school meals in Derby.

The summer programme was a great success with 23 providers engaging over 2200 children to develop new skills, take part in creative and physical activities, learn about food and cooking, and enjoy free nutritious meals. The programme also offered a range of exciting activities for younger people with special educational needs and disabilities across the city, including horse riding, music, trips, gardening skills, engineering and crafts all delivered by skilled and experienced local organisations.

Schools and local groups can apply to deliver activities as part of the Winter HAF programme by visiting Winter HAF Applications Now Open - Community Action Derby.

A new HAF Co-ordinator is now in post and will be contacting schools and other teams to ensure as many young people as possible can access this fantastic programme. Contact clare.labram@derby.gov.uk or DerbyHAF@derby.gov.uk for more information.
