A Struggling Youth

Broxtowe Youth Homeless (BYH) are offering free workshops to groups of secondary school students in Derby city. These ‘Home Street Home’ hour-long workshops are primarily aimed at Year 10 and 11 students (but can be adapted for other age groups) and aim to:-

  • Challenge the stereotypes around homelessness and homeless people
  • Raise awareness of the issue
  • Equip young people with the information they need to recognise when they are at risk of homelessness and seek the right support as early as possible.

The Home Street Home workshop is interactive, innovative and based around the real-life experiences of peer educators. It is an opportunity for students to find out about all aspects of the common causes and consequences of homelessness.

These free workshops, funded by Derby City Council, are limited in number and available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. They can be presented in school for one day (working with 4-6 groups) or over two days (8-12 groups). Alternatively, they can be delivered as an online e-Learning package.
