At its meeting on 2 February, Derby City Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) spend some time discussing the current Derbyshire and Derby City Agreed Syllabus for RE. Members of SACRE noted that the current syllabus does not recommend that children are taught about Sikhism until Key Stage 3.

Derby City SACRE would like to remind schools that they are welcome to cover religions, such as Sikhism, which are not explicitly recommended in the current syllabus. Any schools who would like more information on Sikhism and other religions that can be covered at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 are invited to contact the Open Centre.
