We’re seeing winter bugs starting to circulate locally. We’ve attached a document that outlines the support you can receive when you have infections circulating in your setting and how you can access this support.

You will likely have seen lots of reports about Strep A in the news. Derby City Council Public Health have produced two information sheets on Strep A. One information sheet is for parents and carers and explains what Strep A is, what scarlet fever is, the symptoms to look out for and how you can stop the spread of infection. The second information sheet is for education setting staff and additionally explains actions you can take in your setting to stop the spread of infection and in the event of any cases. Please find attached.

Other winter bugs might have symptoms of sickness and diarrhoea. Where this is the case, remember that children/students and staff should be washing their hands regularly with soap and water. Alcohol hand gel is not as effective on the germs that cause sickness and diarrhoea. You may also want to share this video with staff who are responsible for cleaning up any spills, this shows how far vomit can spread beyond the area that is visibly contaminated. Please find attached a norovirus summary that outlines further actions you can take.

Derby City Council have a supply of lateral-flow tests for COVID testing. If you have children/students or staff who would like to test but do not have access to lateral-flow tests, please contact cct@derby.gov.uk
